FOURTH OF JULY SUCCESS. Thank you to everyone that participated in our annual Fourth of July Celebration – it was another great year. A special thank you to the family of Eileen DeVries for sponsoring this community tradition. As Eileen's daughter, Rachel, said: “My mother always ‘wanted to go out with a bang!"
LAKE DRIVE OPEN. Good news! The Lake Drive project is wrapped up and officially open. Thank you to all our residents and visitors for your patience as we completed this important project.
For more information on all projects, please visit:www.eastgr.org/construction.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. Please note, a variety of preventative maintenance projects will take place on streets throughout the City this summer. These preventative measures allow us to increase the lifespan of our streets -- ultimately saving financial resources. We encourage you to plan extra time when traveling and thank you in advance for your patience. The patching operations – made possible by the 2015 Street & Sidewalk Millage – will require only minor lane closures for short periods of time and will not require any complete closures or detours. Read more here.
NEW GASLIGHT VILLAGE BUSINESSES. Congratulations to Carolina Lowcountry Kitchen and Duffield Lane on their grand openings! We're so glad they choose East Grand Rapids Gaslight Village for their new space.
BIKE PATROL. Please welcome Jacob, Aaron, Evan and Justin -- our new summer bike patrol. The four cadets, who are all law enforcement students at local colleges, will provide the Public Safety Dept. a greater presence throughout the City this summer. They will be patrolling parks, neighborhoods, Gaslight Village and special events. If you see them around, please help us give them a warm welcome as they spend their summer working to keep East a safe and great place to live!
