Over the last few years, there has been a marked increase in the number of water service leaks, water main breaks and other repairs due to the age of many of the underground water and sewer mains. To insure that our water and sewer systems remain reliable for our residents, the City Commission discussed an increase to water/sewer rates to provide additional funding. The increased funding will be used for the replacement of the most crucial projects as soon as possible and then to begin a systematic program to address other aging mains, lift stations and water services. City water/sewer rates have not increased since October 2011.
Information sessions were held Wednesday, April 13 and Saturday, April 16 at the Community Center. Staff presented information and answered questions from the public. The City Commission voted to approve the new structure at their meeting on April 18. New water/sewer rates will take effect July 1, 2016.
