The City has a lively and spirited appreciation of recreation and healthy lifestyles, and as such we offer special events throughout the year, including the Huntington Reeds Lake Run, Rhoades McKee Reeds Lake Triathlon/Duathlon, Fourth of July Celebration, Daddy Daughter Dance, Halloween Hoot and many others.
One cannot think of East Grand Rapids without children playing and neighbors walking and ball games, playgrounds and family gatherings in our parks. Today, the City’s public parks encompass more than 159 acres of land, including John Collins Park and Waterfront Park on the shores of Reeds Lake. The City also has several passive natural areas, including Hodenpyl Woods, Remington Park, Steketee Woods and portions of the Manhattan Recreation Area.
The beauty of the City’s parks is anchored by the passionate devotion to active recreation that has energized our community from its very beginning.
