USA Today named the City of East Grand Rapids as not only a top community in the nation, but the best place to live in Michigan.
The article cites the City’s park system, proximity to Grand Rapids and active community as top reasons why it was selected. Nestled on Reeds and Fisk Lakes, the City offers a scenic environment close to downtown activity yet is also its own entity, providing strong community life. The article also specifically mentions the 10 parks, trails and playgrounds that are available for residents and visitors alike to access.
Using particular criteria to identify outstanding cities throughout the nation, USA Today noted that quality of life is subjective, but stressed that “local community and environment have a meaningful impact.” Boroughs, census designated places, cities, towns and villages with at least 8,000 residents were all considered in their research.
“Hearing news like this is so gratifying,” said East Grand Rapids Mayor Amna Seibold. “It has always been our mission to make East a better place to live. Between the City staff, our thriving businesses, strong education system and most importantly, our residents, we have been able to work together to make EGR the wonderful community it is.”
