Coming to a neighborhood near you: 2020 Independence Day Parade
Although the City will not hold its annual day-long celebration this year for the health and safety of all involved, staff has been working to plan an event where the community can still honor America’s birthday together.
This year’s parade route has been designed to allow everyone to practice social distancing. In order to avoid heavy congestion along our regular route, Public Works and Public Safety vehicles will travel 4.5 miles of EGR’s main roads, passing through each of the City’s neighborhoods. We ask that you stay near your home and not gather along Wealthy Street.
The parade will last an approximate 45 minutes. The map below details an estimated time frame it will reach the road nearest you.
Please note that the Public Works and Public Safety vehicles will be moving at a faster pace than usual at 10-15 mph and will not be passing out candy. It is critical that all viewers remain off the road at all times.
Following current CDC and State guidelines, we encourage everyone to remain six feet apart and wear a mask if not able to maintain distance at all times from people outside your household. Anyone experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms is asked to stay home.
