WATER MAIN MAINTENANCE
City crews will be performing preventive water main maintenance work in Zones 1 & 2 throughout April and May. The work will include valve exercising (the opening and closing of street valves) for a two-week period from April 5-16. This work will not disrupt water service and will take place during regular work hours from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
WATER MAIN FLUSHING
Water mains will additionally be flushed (flowing water through fire hydrants) beginning April 19 through mid-May. To help limit interruption, this work will take place during a night shift, between 10 p.m.-6 a.m. The City will place notices in Zones 1 & 2 adjacent to flushing hydrants when flushing is taking place. During this work, water service to your home may be interrupted or there may be a reduction in pressure. You may also experience water discoloration. If this should happen to you, please follow the recommended procedures listed below:
- Run the cold water faucet closest to your service entrance until the water runs clear. (The wash tub in the basement is usually the best location.)
- Run all other faucets in your home to clear all house water lines.
- Do not do laundry until all water lines run clear.
