Park Use - Commercial and Non-Commercial Group Activity

    All organizations or businesses must provide the City a copy of insurance naming the City of East Grand Rapids as an additional insured no less than three days prior to the event.

  3. Rental Request Timeline
    Online requests for the rental of park space may be submitted as follows: East Grand Rapids Storefront Business Owners can submit rental requests starting February 1, East Grand Rapids residents can submit rental requests starting February 16 and Non-Residents can submit rental requests starting on March 1 of each year. Rental permits are available April 15 through October 31 of each year.

      1. Rental permit holders may only use the grass space between the restroom building and the boathouse. Pedestrian walkways may not be used or blocked at any time. 2. Maximum of 15 participants and two instructors for any activity. 3. No audio equipment allowed and instructions must be given at speaking volume (no yelling). 4. Maximum of two events will be allowed per day and one at a time. 5. The park must be left the way you found it with minimal impact. 6. Permit holders not abiding by the guidelines will forfeit their permit and will not be issued a refund for any dates reserved.

      1. Rental permit holders may only use grass space just to the SW of the Pavilion 2. Maximum of 30 participants and two instructors for any activity. 3. No audio equipment allowed and instructions must be given at speaking volume (no yelling). 4. Maximum of two events will be allowed per day and one at a time. 5. The park must be left the way you found it with minimal impact. 6. Permit holders not abiding by the guidelines will forfeit their permit and will not be issued a refund for any dates reserved.

      You may request a rental permit, up to four days per week, for any day of the week between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.

      Once your rental form is received you will be contacted by a staff member during regular business hours to confirm the information provided and process payment.
    12. Refund Policy
      There will be no refund if the renter cancels a scheduled date. The renter will not be allowed to move or reschedule dates. If park conditions or severe weather causes a cancellation the renter will be allowed to reschedule or be issued a refund for that date. The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any and all rental dates at it's discretion and a full refund will be granted to the renter. If a renter does not abide by the park rental policies future rentals will be cancelled and no refund will be granted.
    13. Insurance Requirements - Copy MUST be submitted at least three days prior to rental.
      INSURANCE COVERAGE In order to rent a facility, you must provide proof and a copy of liability insurance, no less than three days prior to the rental, including the following coverage: General Liability: $1 million Bodily Injury and Property Damage combined. The CITY OF EAST GRAND RAPIDS shall be named as an “Additional Insured” under policy with respect to rentals issued by the City. The address is: CITY OF EAST GRAND RAPIDS 750 Lakeside Dr. East Grand Rapids, MI 49506. The rental holder shall indemnify and hold harmless the City, its officers, elected officials, agents, employees and volunteers, from and against any and all claims, actions, suits, proceedings, costs, expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees), damages, and liabilities claimed by any person, organization, association, or otherwise arising out of or relating to any act or omission of the permit holder, its agents, contractors or employees under this Agreement. Such indemnification shall not be effective to the extent that the damage or injury results from the sole negligence of the City. Failure of the Business, Resident or Non-Resident to comply with the terms of the City’s rental procedures as described may result in revocation of the rental and the inability to obtain future rental agreements. The CITY OF EAST GRAND RAPIDS shall be given 30 days’ notice of any change, cancellation, expiration or renewal of the policy.
    14. Agreement*
      Applicant hereby releases the City of East Grand Rapids, its officers, agents, and employees from all liability and waives any and all rights and claims for any and all injuries or damage to person or property, possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including but not limited to MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19 and accidents which may occur as a result of the use of City facilities. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of injury, serious illness and death does exist. In addition, applicant agrees to indemnify the city, its officers, agents, and employees from and against any and all claims, judgments, losses, damages, demands, and legal proceedings arising out of or resulting from the use of City facilities. I understand that all information submitted to the City of East Grand Rapids is considered public information and subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.
